The Managing Director of Aston & Fincher, Oliver Fincher, is passionate about one of the fastest-moving, most energetic sports on the planet - squash! “It’s the perfect mix of tactics and fitness,” he states, “And it’s getting more popular as top UK players are featuring in matches and series around the world”.
Aston & Fincher has supported elite-level squash for several years and support World Women’s number 8 Sarah Jane Perry and Men’s number 11 Joel Makin, who both qualified for January’s Tournament of Champions in New York’s Grand Central Station. The dramatic setting, staged in a specially-constructed glass court in the iconic station, gathers the top international players in January each year for the biggest squash event of the year.
Perry, who is Women’s President of the Professional Squash Association, made it to the quarter finals in strong style but was defeated by finalist and number 2 seed Nour El Sherbini, from Squash powerhouse country Egypt.
Joel Makin also made his way to the quarter final, valiantly playing his way through multiple rounds, however was unfortunately defeated by another Egyptian player Mohammed El Shorbagy, who was crowned the winner of the Tournament of Champions.
Oliver commented: “Here at Aston & Fincher, we are proud to be sponsoring the Professional Squash Association and we also support a regional challenger tour to bring on the next generation of world-class players.” To find out more, please go to https://psaworldtour.com/
