Monday 24th September 2018 marked a very special day in Aston & Fincher’s calendar. Celebrity stylist Chris Appleton was due to make his appearance in Birmingham, the creative city. After years of living in glamorous L.A., styling the hair of celebrities, Chris was keen to revisit his UK roots.

Chris Appleton is a Hollywood superstar; creating iconic looks on a regular basis for clients such as Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez and Ariana Grande. And what’s more, he’s affiliated with the brand Color Wow, which is exclusively stocked by Aston & Fincher.

Chris put on a spectacular show. He re-created his three iconic looks (Kim Kardashian’s 'glass hair', Ariana Grande’s space pony, and Jennifer Lopez’s dream waves), talking through each step in great detail. A screen revealed close-ups of Chris’ work, as he used staple products such as Color Wow’s Dream Coat, Root Cover Up and Pop & Lock. He was extremely charismatic on stage and interacted with the audience throughout, constantly encouraging them to ask questions. At the end of the show, the audience were all on their feet, giving Chris the standing ovation he deserved.

Overall, the event was one to remember. Chris was charismatic, funny, and he put on a fantastic show! All the guests went away having learned lots of tips and advice to take back to the salon with them – not to mention a free goody bag and plenty of selfies!

Aston and Fincher are delighted to have hosted two spectacular events with superbrand Moroccanoil, showcasing their brand new colour care collection, Color Complete. On the 25th September 2018, the Aston and Fincher Team met up with Moroccanoil at the St David’s Hotel in Cardiff, and the following day the team travelled 400 miles to the Apex Waterloo Place Hotel in Edinburgh.

The Moroccanoil and Aston & Fincher Creative and Media Teams worked closely together during the setup of the shows. Spectacular displays full of Moroccanoil goodness were merchandised; goody bags were created; the shop was stocked; and plenty of backstage photos were posted online by our Media Team. The Moroccanoil supermodels arrived, and so began the event!

Overall, the event was a great success. Hairdressers and stylists went away with some fantastic knowledge to apply to their own work, as well as some brand new, exciting products to work with!

Moroccanoil have been dominating the hair industry in the UK for 10 years and Aston and Fincher have worked alongside the brand to build it up to where it is today: a celebrity favourite, and king of the argan oil category. Now, Moroccanoil have completely changed the game with their revolutionary approach to colour care: the regime begins at the salon with the ChromaTech Service and continues with a simple at-home colour care routine.

Richard Fincher Senior, Oliver Fincher and Dave Winnington joined other key figures in the hairdressing industry as guests at the Houses of Parliament to support the Hairdressing Council.

One of the key drivers of the Council is to move towards state registration for all hairdressers to further define the professionalism and skill level of the trade. The event was attended by several MPs who support the proposal.

Our colour team and several customers enjoyed the Framesi Congress which took place in Prague.

For three days customers, educators and Sales Representatives were walked through Framesi’s industry developments ensuring they not only left with fantastic goodie bags but also equipped to take advantage of upcoming trends.

The shows were universally classed as industry leading, and all the attendees thoroughly enjoyed the change of scenery and access to exclusive exposés.
