Over 65 Years Serving the Trade

Aston & Fincher, supplying the hair and beauty trade since 1959.

History of Aston and Fincher

1959

In July 1959, Bob Fincher acquires Aston Toilet Supplies, originally founded in 1934 by Mr Aston. He reopens as Aston & Fincher on Soho Road, Handsworth, with his son Richard as the first employee.

1963

With rapid growth, Aston & Fincher moves from a 1,000 sq ft unit to a 6,000 sq ft premises on Soho Hill. Four vans and four reps serve salons across Birmingham and the Black Country.

1967

As business expanded, the four-storey Soho Hill site became impractical. Aston & Fincher relocated to Holyhead Road, Handsworth, offering counter service and growing to six vans, six reps, and a 70-strong team

1969

Aston & Fincher launches the industry’s first cash and carry at the rear of Holyhead Road. Within two years, it occupies the entire ground floor as salon furniture sales surge to meet demand.

1972

Expansion moved beyond Birmingham, with new branches opening in Coventry and Bristol. Former reps became store managers, and a long-term leadership team was formed: Tim LaBrum, Len Barber, Bob and Richard Fincher.

1980s

Growth continued as Aston & Fincher acquired wholesalers slow to adopt the cash and carry model. The company now reached South Wales, the South West, North West, and the East of England.
